Step 2: register your child
To register your child in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th year of secondary school or in dual learning, register directly at the school. You do not need to apply for a place for your child first.
Check the list of available places (available from 26 May). Are there still places available in the school and the study programme you want to register your child in? Go to the school from 30 May 2023 at 9 a.m. and register your child.
Does a school still have places available for pupils with at least one Dutch-speaking parent? Then these pupils will have priority if they register from 30 May to 5 June 2023, as long as the school has places available for this priority group. After 5 June, these pupils no longer have priority. More information about priority.
Registration takes place in chronological order. So whoever comes first gets a place first. Does the school not have any available places left? Learn more about what you can do if your child does not have a place.
Who has priority?
Children with at least one Dutch-speaking parent will be given priority in schools that still have places available for these pupils if they register from 30 May to 5 June 2023. There is no priority for siblings and children of staff or for pupils with a GOK or non-GOK profile in the higher years of secondary school.
More information about the priority groups.

What if you did not get a place?
Does the school not have any available places left? Then ask for a document of unsuccessful registration. You will then be placed on the waiting list. The school will contact you if a place opens up.
